You already know “why” from our previous blog post, found here: https://buffalocopy.com/why-a-brochure/
Now let’s get into the “how” of setting up a brochure file for print. Whether you are a designer creating print ready artwork or a beginner who needs a visual reference, we have templates to help.
Today we are featuring a standard 8.5″x11″ double-sided brochure. We allow an exterior of 1/8″ where any elements will “bleed” off of the page including background colors or textures and non-essential designs. We also include an 1/8″ interior “safety margin” that essential design and text should not extend past. Use the following template to see the dimensions for yourself:
Note: The most common mistake made when creating an 8.5″x11″ brochure is dividing the panels evenly into 3 sections. When designed correctly, the interior folded panel is a tenth of an inch shorter than the other panels to allow the panel to tuck into the opposing fold.
